AG1 alternative: the comparison nobody in Switzerland dares to write

AG1 vs base One

AG1 (ex-Athletic Greens) is the global greens-powder phenomenon: 75 ingredients, podcasts everywhere, a cult ritual. Many Swiss look for an alternative. Let us compare what is comparable : and above all, what is verifiable. Verdict first, proof after.

Our verdict

Our winner: base One. It is our product, plainly said : and here is the deciding criterion: verifiability. AG1 invented the daily-glass ritual; base One made it checkable, line by line, on the label. If you read labels : and you should : only one of the two can be verified in full.

The detail few people notice: of AG1's 75 ingredients, 65 do not state their dose: the core of the formula cannot be verified. The proof, line by line, below.

In short, choose:
  • AG1 if plant powders, adaptogens and probiotics in the same glass matter to you and dose opacity does not bother you.
  • base One if you want to be able to verify every dose of every ingredient: fewer lines, all checkable.
  • Neither one if a symptom persists or settles in: that is your doctor's job, not a supplement's.

The key to everything (30 seconds of reading)

Not all vitamins are equal. The same vitamin exists in several chemical versions: its “forms”. Some are active forms: the ones your body uses as-is; others must first be converted, with losses along the way. Systematically choosing active forms, at useful doses, is the orthomolecular approach: the discipline taught by David Giovenco, formulator of base One and president of the International Francophone Academy of Orthomolecular Medicine. Keep this key: the whole comparison reads with it.

What is AG1

The all-in-one «foundational nutrition»: multivitamin + greens powder + adaptogens + probiotics + enzymes, in one 12 g scoop a day. Its claimed job is ours: the daily base : which makes the duel direct and legitimate.

What base One is for

The daily base: covering the essentials every day : 29 vitamins, minerals and amino acids : in active forms (the versions your body uses without converting them), in one pomegranate-flavoured glass. Not a one-off cure: the foundation, day after day.

The comparator, line by line

Green = a form the body uses as-is, or a strength. Amber = a version that must first be converted, or a partial point. Each line says what the nutrient is for.

What base One adds

Every dose written out, the dosed amino acids (glycine 750 mg), Swiss manufacturing and unfiltered reviews: everything that can be checked.

What AG1 adds

The ecosystem: travel sachets, global marketing, and the full greens-probiotics-enzymes universe for those who want everything in one scoop.

The proprietary-blend problem, plainly explained

A proprietary blend states a mixture's total weight, not each ingredient's dose. Concretely: you know ashwagandha or spirulina is somewhere in AG1's 12 g, but not whether the dose reaches the studied one. For 65 of the 75 ingredients, that check is impossible. Not an accusation: the definition of the format.

base One applies the opposite logic: fewer ingredients, all verifiable : 29 lines, 29 doses, 29 written forms. Less spectacular on the front; checkable on the back. Choose which promise you prefer.

What AG1 does well : and its limits, in plain words

Its strengths. Inventing the daily-glass ritual and making it desirable worldwide; real quality consistency (sport certifications, batch testing); the category's most polished ecosystem.

Its limits. 65 of 75 ingredients without a disclosed dose: the core of the formula cannot be verified; plus international shipping to Switzerland. The breadth impresses; verifiability lives elsewhere.

base One in practice: for whom, when, and what to expect

Who it is for. Adults who want the essentials covered daily without stacking boxes : and especially those who have taken vitamins before and “felt nothing”: often the sign of forms the body used poorly. After 50 or on a plant-based diet, the active B12 in the formula counts double.

When. One glass a day, at the moment that becomes your ritual: morning, or the 5 p.m. alcohol-free apéro. The 90-day course follows the body's own rhythm: skin renews in a month, blood in four.

What to expect, honestly. We promise nothing : here is what biology says. If your diet left gaps : common for magnesium and the B vitamins, which contribute to reducing fatigue : the difference may be felt within weeks. If your intake was already good, base One works silently: it is background coverage, not a stimulant. The honest check-in is at 90 days : and you judge.

What base One does not contain : and why

An honest comparison also lists our absences. They are deliberate:

  • No iron. Iron and zinc use the same entry door of the gut: putting them together makes them hinder each other. A real iron deficiency is measured (ferritin) and corrected in a targeted way. The full explanation.
  • No vitamin D. The right dose depends on your blood status and the season: it varies tenfold between people. One dose for everyone would be either useless or insufficient. Our dedicated article.

Why these choices? base One follows the orthomolecular approach: giving the body molecules it already knows, at useful doses : rather than cheap synthetic versions at minimal doses. It is the discipline practised and taught by David Giovenco, president of the International Francophone Academy of Orthomolecular and Integrative Medicine.

Your questions

Is AG1 available in Switzerland?

Yes, via its international site, shipped from abroad. base One is formulated, made and shipped from Switzerland.

Why does base One have «only» 29 ingredients?

Because every ingredient must be at a useful, verifiable dose. 75 ingredients in 12 g mathematically force symbolic doses for most: we prefer 29 honest lines.

Does base One miss the greens?

base One covers vitamins, minerals and amino acids. Plant powders are another choice: at verifiable doses they pair well alongside.
